Biography

Prof Zixiao Li is a Chief Physician, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Neurology at Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University. He serves as Assistant to the President, Deputy Director of the Neurology Center, Director of the Quality Research Department at the National Center for Clinical Research in Neurological Diseases, and Director of the National Office for Medical Quality Control of Neurological Diseases.

Prof Li has long been dedicated to frontline clinical, teaching, and research work in cerebrovascular diseases. Focusing on key clinical issues in improving the prognosis of cerebrovascular diseases, he conducts research on functional outcome improvement, medical quality enhancement, and artificial intelligence decision-making in cerebrovascular diseases. Based on the strategic needs of national major chronic disease prevention and control, he has systematically addressed critical clinical questions including "how to create and improve treatment technology application strategies to enhance clinical stroke treatment levels" and "how to stratify early warnings and identify new targets for residual recurrence and disability."

His research achievements have rewritten Chinese guidelines for cerebrovascular disease management, becoming national clinical stroke diagnosis and treatment standards and serving as national medical quality and safety improvement goals for three consecutive years. Over the past 5 years, he has published 52 SCI papers as first or corresponding author in international journals including JAMA and BMJ, with a total impact factor of 612 points. Among these, he has published 35 SCI papers as corresponding author in journals such as Science Bulletin, Annals of Neurology, and Neurology, including 29 papers in CAS Zone 1 journals. He has led or drafted 5 industry guidelines and consensuses.

He has been the Principal Investigator of two National Key R&D Program projects (13th and 14th Five-Year Plans), obtained 4 national invention patents as the first inventor, and received the Second Prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award. He has been selected for talent programs including the National "Baiqianwan Talent Project," Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions, "Young Beijing Scholar," and World Stroke Organization "Global Future Leader."

He currently serves as Chairman of the Medical Quality Management and Promotion Branch of the Chinese Stroke Society (2nd term), Member of the Cerebrovascular Disease Group of the 8th Committee of the Neurology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and Editorial Board Member of AHA's Stroke Journal.
